Bronze medal at The World Games
Success was had in Birmingham, Alabama USA! Breanah Cauchi came home with a Bronze Medal while Ethan and Cheyanna reached the finals.
It was back in April where athletes from around Australia competed in two selection competitions, vying for the World Games spot. Up for contention was a spot for one male tumbler, one female tumbler and one female in dmt.
After an extremely tough competition all three positions were awarded solely to Kachan School of Tumbling & Performance. Together with coach Dima Kachan, Ethan McGuinness, Breanah Cauchi and Cheyanna Robinson were selected to represent Australia at the 4 yearly event bringing non-Olympic sports together for their own Olympics.
The World Games saw the best of the best from each country, and it was certainly an event with intense excitement and pressure. For KSTP, this was an unbelievable experience and one that we are immensely proud of. To have three athletes selected was a momentous occasion for our family club.
Breanah was first of our three athletes to compete, it was only her second competition in a senior category, and she certainly held her own. Coming away from two strong preliminary passes, she was in 3rd place going into the first final round. Another strong pass saw her remain in third place where the top 4 compete for the medal. Breanah did it! She remained in third position and won the Bronze Medal! An outstanding achievement.
Breanah started at KSTP as a three-year-old, when her parents Vicky and Will started KSTP in partnership with Bec and Dima. To see Breanah follow the pathways within the club and not only be selected by Gymnastics Australia to represent our Country at the World Games but then win a medal was such a highlight.
Cheyanna and Ethan preliminaries were strong, seeing them both move into the finals from a strong field of athletes. Cheyanna finished in 8th and Ethan finished in 7th place. We are proud of them both on the way they competed and carried themselves.
To Gymnastics NSW, Gymnastics Australia and all the GA committee members, staff and coaches, we are grateful for their guidance and support both in the lead up to the games and throughout. It means so much to us to have these opportunities and we know it would not be possible without such great organizations and people at the helm.
We’d like to congratulate Ethan, Cheyanna and Breanah once again on your wonderful efforts and achievements at The World Games. You not only qualified for this event, you all made the finals and when you’re up against the very best of the best in world you have to go for it and that’s exactly what you did. Finally to Bree for winning the bronze medal in just your second senior international competition at 17years old, that’s truly incredible. You should all be very proud of yourselves because we sure are!
