The World games is an international multi-sport event held every 4 years for non-Olympic Sports. The 2025 World Games was held in Chengdu, China with 2 KSTP athletes representing team Australia at this competition.

Team Australia’s continued high results at international competitions including the previous Trampoline World Championships, meant that Australia had achieved a place for both male and female tumbling at the 2025 World Games Competition. Only one athlete from 8 different countries can compete at the games, so it quite literally is a contest between the best of the best

The NSW State Championships held in early June was the final selection event for the World Games positions. KSTP athletes Ethan McGuinness and Breanah Cauchi were vying for the spots, and both secured a win in their events at this competition. After a bit of a wait, it was finally confirmed that both Ethan and Breanah would be competing at their second World Games, after their previous World Games performance in 2022 Birmingham, USA. To hold their top positions in the country was a huge achievement, but their journey had only just begun.

Ethan and Breanah along with coach Dima spend a few days acclimatising in Shanghai, China before heading to the World Games village in Chengdu, China. Here they were able to explore the village, seeing their international friends and enjoying all the wonderful and new experiences.

Breanah was the first of the KSTP athletes to compete against a field of experienced tumblers, performing two strong routines finishing in 5th place and first reserve for finals with a total score of 44.300. Ethan’s competition was the following day with another strong competition. Ethan performed two excellent routines with a qualifying score of 56.400, sending him through to his first World Games finals in a strong third place. With what was arguably one of the greatest tumbling finals of all time Ethan finished the competition in 4th place. We are so proud of their efforts and the way they not only represented Australia but how they represented KSTP. Both are wonderful role models and leaders within our sport and gym and we could not be happier for their successful campaign.

To Gymnastics NSW, Gymnastics Australia and all the GA committee members, staff and coaches, we are grateful for their guidance and support both in the lead up to the games and throughout. It means so much to us to have these opportunities and we know it would not be possible without such great organizations and people at the helm.

This World Games was such a fantastic experience for our club reps. As a non-Olympic sport, it’s easy to feel a bit on the outer, not having such a worldwide event to dream of and strive for. But the 2025 World Games blew that idea out of the water. Our athletes were made to feel like Olympians and it was so special to them. It makes the sacrifices, injuries and setbacks all worth it. To have this event to build within or goals system and club structure is incredible, and we hope to be part of this pinnacle event for many, many years to come.
